The Competency Framework

There are 30 competencies in all to choose from, across 4 areas; Leadership, Management, Personal Delivery and Self-Management. These have been created to reflect typical primary roles that people have:

  • Leader
  • (Line) Manager
  • Team member
  • Individual contributor

Of course, they are not entirely mutually exclusive. For example, leaders are usually also managers, managers are commonly also members of teams and everyone is an individual contributor.

People who are team members or individual contributors are distinct in that they do not usually have significant leadership or management responsibilities, so their key competencies focus on personal delivery.

Competent performance in any role of course ultimately depends on self-management.

Within each competency there are 5 pre-selected behavioural statements to choose from, with another 5 alternative behavioural statements depending on what is most important to you.
